MycoTEX X Karin Vlug

A collaboration with Dutch textile designer Aniela Hoitink who created MycoTEX: a mycelium (root of a mushroom) based innovative textile grown in a laboratory. We are developing the new design approach for fashion designers and new materials. We ask ourselves and research what it means for a fashion designer to design with this new material.

We are a part of the Future of Living Materials project. Special thanks to our partners State of Fashion and Wageningen University and Research who initiated this beautiful project.

See https://neffa.nl/portfolio/mycotex/ for more information about MycoTEX.

Here you see the first series of 3dimensional garment shaped moulds I designed. We experiment growing MycoTEX onto them and we figure out what it means to design for example a collar or armhole in the future.
